Restaurants:
- The middle age consumer from the age of 45-55 years old spends an average of $1,129 a year on eating out. This particular demographic spends 40% more on dining out than the typical consumer. The middle age consumers dine out more often because they tend to have a higher income and travel more ofen. 2
- The typical quick-service restaurant consumer is between the ages of 18-24 years old and this particular age group eats out at these fast-service establishments more often than any age group. Restaurants target this target market by using social networking sites to promote their business or to promote deals their restaurant is offering. Generation X, those born between 1965- 1977, tends to prefer quick-service or casual establishments with comfort and good percieved value. Generation Y on the other hand tend to gravitate toward quick-service restaurants such as fast food establishments. 1
- Individuals who have a higher income tend to eat out more rather than cooking in their own homes. Empty nesters are also a demographic that eats at restaurants more and also spends more when they eat out than the average consumer. They typically spend 65% more on dining out than couples living with children. These particular consumers are more concerned with the quality of the food and the overall experience of dining out rather than the price of the meal. These consumers tend to be from the baby boomer generation because they have the income to spend more and lead the lifestyle to dine out on a regular basis. The baby boomers typically spend $1,024 a year on dining out which is a close second to the middle age demographic who eats out the most.1
- The senior citizen demographics tend to eat earlier and desire smaller portions therefore they seek good values or specials offered when dining out. They also tend to spend less when dining out in comparison to the earlier generations such as generation X, generation Y and the baby boomers.1

Bars:
- The typical consumer who attends bars or nightclubs tends to be between the ages of 21-33 years old. This age range is so wide because the divorce rate is over 50% so the older demographic age range for consumers attending bars or nightclubs has increased. 3
- The age range for the typical alcohol consumer is 25-44 years old and consists of mostly caucasian males. Individuals who are in the lower end of the income spectrum tend to drink more often than those in the upper income spectrum. 61.2% of adults are current drinkers which leaves a large target market for drinking establishments. 3
- A person who is 65 years old or higher tends to consume alcohol less than a younger person.3
Movie Theatres
- Adults between the age ranges of 18- 24 years old are the most typical age demographic to attend a movie. 34% of this particular demographic attend a movie at least once a month. 4
- Movie attendance has decrease over the years and the market continues to shrink. 4
- 107 Americans reported attending a movie in the past month and this demographic is typically under the age of 35 years old. 4
- 43% reported attending a restraunt or a drinking establishment before attending a movie.4
