Consumers and Culture
Weight loss products are designed to convince people that simply by taking the pills, or powder, or whatever form the drug is in, that it will produce miracles. These are simply Myths. Consumers create their own "consumer fairy tales" where magical agents, donors, and helpers are created to help consumers find their "happy endings." If you read the fine print on weight loss products, it will tell you that yes, you will lose weight, but only partnered with excessive diet and exercise. Another myth that marketers sell to consumers is age reversal creams.
Stem Cell Therapy isn't just for cancer treatments anymore. "The miracle treatment that reverses the look of aging of skin," claims to cure all facial wrinkles with just a few applications. In this instance, the producers of Stem Cell Therapy claim to be magical agents and helpers that help aging women find their happy youthful endings once again.
Culture production system (CPS) create and market products that encourage a cultural following.
The Pajama Jean, Snuggie, and Forever Lazy are all products that condone laziness and bad fashion trends. The infomercials for all of these products make it seem nearly painful to make the effort to get dressed or find an attractive blanket to use. They make it okay to lounge around all day being lazy and for you and your friends to have "lazy wear" tailgate parties.
