A culture production system has three major subsystems:

1.     A creative subsystem to generate new symbols and products^[13]

          i. An example of this would be a music artist

2.     A managerial subsystem to select, makr tangible, produce, and manage the distribution of new symbols and products^[15]

          i. An example of this wouuld be a music label company

3.     A communications subsystem to give meaning to the new product and provide it with a symbolic set of attributes^[17]

          i. An example of this would be a PR agency

Cultural Gatekeepers

There are many people who have a big say in the products which are created. Cultural gatekeepers "filter the overflow of information as it travels down the 'funnel."^[18] Examples of these gatekeepers include reviewers, DJs , magazine editors, etc.
