Types of Social Power
"The ability to make someone do something regardless of whether they do it willingly you have the power over that person."1
Six types of Social Power
1. Referent Power - when a person admires the qualities of a person or group and they try to copy that referents's behavior.2
Ex: cars, cloths, and activites, product endorsements

2. Information Power - When someone knows something they know others want to know4
3. Legitimate Power - When someone grants power by virtue of social agreements5
EX: power of police officers, and soldier, doctors

4. Expert Power - Uses an expert in a particular subject area to create power. 8
Ex: when a company uses a expert in an area to endorse their product
Doctors enorsing medicines, saying how they made them feel better.
5. Reward Power - person or group of people who have the ability to provide positive reinforcement.9
tangible- able to be touched EX: Money, gift, prize
intangible- Not touchable EX: Approval of boss or Judge

6. Coercive Power - when a person influences someone because of social or physical intimidation.12
EX: Threat, lose of rewards
